So how do I go about making my 12 year old understand the value of money? She is constantly asking me for money. We are not just talking about a little money. It's five dollars here ten dollars there........ Today she asked me for FIFTY dollars because her and her friends want to make blankets, so fifty dollars for material. I finally told her that if she wanted the fifty dollars that bad she was going to have to go get the money out of her savings account. She also knows how upset I am. I about started to cry asking her "what do you want to do break me"? I don't mind giving my kids a little money, but they should also have to earn it! I need to learn to put my foot down. So my goal is to Start Saying NO, end of discussion!!!
I love Kinsey more than anything, but she sure knows how to push my buttons!!

I completely understand! My 10 year old is always asking for money or for me to buy her things. I finally got fed up and now whenever she asks me for something, I ask back "oh, do you have any money with you?" and the answer is always no, so than I say next time she should bring her own money! She never asks me for money anymore because I started writing down all of the money she owed me and made her pay it back whenever she got a little money...she really hated that!
Good Lucky Brenna ;) That is so hard. I do make my girls earn it and for the most part it really works out. :) I get a clean house and they get some $
Good luck with that. It is easier for me to tell Landon NO. because he does nothing around the house, Keeter is a different story. She helps me so much I always say yes when she asks. I better get a game plan started.
